The Pledge: The British Dyslexia Association Assessment Bursary - British Dyslexia Association
With the average dyslexia assessment in the United Kingdom costing upwards of £500, we understand that this can create a barrier for children and adults to receive the diagnoses and consequently the right support they may need to confidently move through life.
We believe that every person should be able to receive a dyslexia assessment when they recognise the need for one and that those in lower-economic situations should not be discriminated against. It is especially crucial as schools and Local Authorities are having to cut back on crucial services and families and adults are struggling to make ends meet. The BDA hopes that our bursary scheme will allow more people to understand their dyslexia and receive professional advice enabling them to thrive throughout education, work and in day-to-day life.
With an estimated 80% of children who are believed to be dyslexic leaving school undiagnosed, we hope to break through this barrier. The scheme is hoping to launch in 2022 and with your generous contributions, we can ensure that more and more people can receive the diagnosis they need.
